Please join the Friends and help preserve B.C.’s oldest donated park. John Dean Park was designated a park in 1921, which makes it the third oldest Provincial park in B.C. It is comprised of land donations from John Dean, Abraham Collins, Barret Montfort, Sidney Pickles, Ruth Woodward plus some Crown land. It contains the last stand of old growth trees on the Saanich Peninsula.
The Friends speak on behalf of the park and its heritage, conduct studies on, and foster public awareness of, its flora, fauna, and history. As a member of the Friends, you will receive our quarterly newsletters and information on status and events related to the park by email.
You can volunteer to participate in our Adopt a Trail program, in which we monitor the trails, remove branches and trash as needed, and report on issues such as fallen trees that block the paths, the need for trail repairs, or vandalism when it occurs. The more members monitoring the trails, the better we are able to keep the park in good condition. Click on Adopting a Trail for more information. Or to participate in other ways, Contact Us.
